One Qualified Lead Every Seven Minutes: A Trade Show Mentalist at ModMed MOMENTUM 2026
The short answer: working the floor at ModMed MOMENTUM 2026 in Orlando, Gentry delivered approximately 68 qualified opportunities to PEAKE Technology's booth over two days, a pace of more than 8.6 an hour, or one every seven minutes. Within days, the sales team had booked three meetings with people he brought over. Here is how it worked, and what it means for your next show.
The exhibitor and the problem
PEAKE Technology, an Omega Systems company, exhibited at ModMed MOMENTUM, ModMed's annual user conference, held at the Gaylord Palms in Orlando. Like every exhibitor, they faced the same math: a crowded exhibit hall and a few seconds to earn anyone's attention.
The benchmark is sobering. According to PheedLoop's Event Data Lab (Report #10, covering 9,982 exhibitors at 236 events), the median exhibitor that doesn't sponsor captures about 17 contacts over an entire event.
What Gentry did
Most booth entertainment waits for traffic to arrive. Gentry goes and gets it. He worked the whole exhibit floor, approached likely prospects wherever they were, gave each one a few minutes of genuine astonishment, and then walked them back to the PEAKE booth while they were still curious and still talking. At one point he arrived with eight qualified prospects at once.
He does it without making the organizer's job harder: no blocked aisles, no crowds spilling into the walkways, nothing that competes with the sessions. His job was to start the right conversations. Closing them was the sales team's job.
Gentry's background is in rhetoric and critical thinking, not stage patter. He taught at Carnegie Mellon, Temple, Duquesne and the University of Pittsburgh, and he gave the TEDx talk "Faking It IS Making It." His mentalism treats a room of healthcare professionals as intelligent adults, which is exactly why they stop.
The results
Approximately 68 qualified booth opportunities, by the booth staff's own tally
More than 8.6 per hour on the floor, or one every seven minutes
Eight qualified prospects delivered to the booth at the same moment
Four times the 17 contacts a median non-sponsoring exhibitor captures over an entire event
Three sales meetings booked within days of the show
What the client said
"I haven't seen anyone do anything like that at any event I've been to since I started in sales. At least thirty people stopped and really engaged with our team who otherwise would have walked right past, and within days of the show I had booked three meetings with people he brought over to us."

Why it works on a show floor
Booth traffic is a curiosity problem. Swag and screens compete for the same passing glance, and a live moment of mind reading does not. People stop because something impossible is happening to someone like them, and they follow because they want to know how. That makes the handoff easy: the attendee reaches your rep already engaged and already talking.
Questions exhibitors ask
How many leads can a trade show mentalist generate?
Results depend on the show, the booth and the audience. At ModMed MOMENTUM 2026, PEAKE Technology's booth staff tallied approximately 68 qualified opportunities, more than 8.6 an hour, and the account manager booked three meetings within days. For comparison, the median non-sponsoring exhibitor captures about 17 contacts over a whole event.
Does he wait at the booth or go find people?
He goes and finds them. Gentry works the exhibit floor, engages likely prospects where they are, and brings them back to your booth, sometimes several at a time.
Will a roaming performer disrupt the show?
Not when it's done well. Gentry keeps each moment small and quick, respects the aisles and the session schedule, and moves people toward your booth instead of gathering a crowd that blocks traffic.
How does the handoff to the sales team work?
Gentry and your team agree in advance on who to bring over and how. He ends each interaction by bringing the attendee to a team member, so the conversation starts warm instead of cold.
Does it work for technical and regulated industries?
Yes. Gentry has worked booths for cybersecurity companies at Black Hat and for healthcare technology at ModMed MOMENTUM. His material is built for skeptical, analytical audiences. See also entertainment for cybersecurity trade show booths.
What does it cost?
Every engagement is quoted to the show, the hours and your goals. Tell Gentry about your show and he'll send options.
