A promo reel is a promise. This one keeps it with other people's faces.

Private villas, packed theaters, conference ballrooms, a park bench on an ordinary afternoon. The rooms change. What happens in them does not.

For a planner deciding whether an audience will actually stop and watch, this answers the question faster than any description can.

The Gentry logo: Nicholas Gentry's face drawn as a question mark, which also reads as a quotation mark and a bass clef, with the dot as a snake eating its own tail.

Corporate Mentalist for Receptions, Dinners and Evening Events

The evening is where an event is actually decided. The sessions are over, the badges are off, and the people you flew in to impress are finally standing still. What happens in that room is what anyone remembers a month later.

What most evenings get

Background. A band nobody is listening to. A comedian working a room that is half in the hallway. Entertainment that happens near the guests rather than to them. Everyone is polite about it, and nobody mentions it again.

What happened at the Union League

In August 2024, thirty-two of MassMutual of Eastern PA's top producers were at the Union League of Philadelphia for a night called Champions Night. Their CEO is a member of the club. He booked the room, he booked Gentry, and he watched the whole thing from the floor.

Gentry worked it close first, group by group, then took the front of the room. The CEO's name is Joe Mallee, and his review is one of the twelve on the testimonials page. That is the shape of the evening: close-up through the reception, a featured set once people are seated, and a company that spends the next month describing it to people who were not there.

Why planners book him instead of an act

Most acts are polished, predictable and interchangeable. They entertain briefly and disappear. What Gentry does could only have happened in that room, with those people, on that night, which is the whole reason anyone repeats it afterward.

They call him The Intellectual's Illusionist. The apostrophe matters. It means the audience is the intellectual.

Music before the mentalism, on one booking

When the evening wants music first, the same booking can start with a jazz trio. Gentry leads it on bass, then steps out from behind the bass and performs. More on live music for corporate events.

Where the evenings happen

Philadelphia, New York City and Washington, DC most often, the rest of the East Coast regularly, and nationwide and internationally on request. What it costs, and how to check a date.

The other rooms

Most clients meet Gentry at a party and find out later that the rest exists. The keynote is the same material built for a general session and a clock. The trade show floor is the same skill aimed at stopping traffic and capturing names. The band plays the hour before anybody expects a show, and the bass player reads minds between tunes. Team sessions take the method apart in front of the people who have to work together on Monday. And cognitive analysis is the private version, one executive at a time, no audience.
